Recent Improvements of Several Classical Organic Reactions in Fundamental Organic Chemistry

Abstract:

The recent improvements of several classical organic reactions are introduced, including Brønsted acid-catalyzed alkyne hydration, ammonia-free Birch reduction, amide synthesis via iodoform reaction, self-propagation mechanism for Beckmann rearrangement, and denitrogenative homocoupling of arenediazonium salts. These reactions are closely associated with the fundamental organic chemistry, and most of them are the original research results by Chinese chemists, which reflects the contributions of domestic scholars to the development of organic chemistry. The sorting out of these reactions is aimed to enrich and expand the teaching content of fundamental organic chemistry for junior undergraduates. It is also hoped that this paper could provide new teaching materials for ideological and political education in organic chemistry course, especially for patriotic education.
