A General Chemistry Experiment: Constructing Simple Photovoltaic Cells

Abstract:

Two types of photovoltaic cells, which are solid-state p-n junction photovoltaic cell and N719 dye-sensitized photovoltaic cell, can be fabricated in a general chemistry lab by simple chemical methods. Some basic chemical principles involved are also discussed for further expanding in upper-division curriculum.
