In the era of diverse societies and big data, general educational core curriculum that is beyond of the limit of knowledge and skills in specific fields pays close attention to humanistic education and intelligence development. It is aimed to build educational foundations for high-order thinking skills and values that are needed by students in their personal and professional lives after graduation. How to put this educational philosophy into the curriculum and design innovative classroom teaching is one of the most important issues that confront current universities and colleges. In this work, the course "The Beauty of Chemistry" that is open for undergraduates in the fields of humanities and social sciences was used as an example to demonstrate the innovative philosophy and implementation strategies based on course goal, orientation, contents, teaching strategies, extra-curricular activities and learning assessment in order to find effective ways for independent learning, knowledge management and exploration of new areas. Aesthetic experiences refer to the perception of hidden fundamental concepts, principles and rules as well as the understanding of harmonious, simple, symmetrical and original beauty of sciences presented by the nature.

Construction and Practice of Comprehensive and Interactive Assessment System Based on Nutrition Chemistry
Min LIU,Qing FENG
University Chemistry    2019, 34 (11): 21-26.   DOI: 10.3866/PKU.DXHX201810035
Abstract (2608)   HTML (15)    PDF(pc) (2047KB)(505)       Knowledge map    Save

Taking the students as the center and taking the students' ability training as the guidance, the three forms of examination, such as "classroom debate", "social investigation", "promotion of health culture", were designed. In the form of practice, we could examine students' comprehensive ability to use their knowledge from different aspects. The students freely chose test form and participated in the scoring process. The analysis results of students' examination showed that all kinds of examination forms and their scoring standards were reasonable and effective, all of which could give a systematic assessment of the comprehensive quality of the students.

Construction and Practice of the "Course Ideology and Politics" Strategy for Specialty Courses: Taking Basic Chemistry Principle Course as an Example
Congxia XIE,Guangjiu LI,Yanling GENG,Xiaoyan WANG
University Chemistry    2019, 34 (11): 38-44.   DOI: 10.3866/PKU.DXHX201812014
Abstract (4069)   HTML (55)    PDF(pc) (1553KB)(1179)       Knowledge map    Save

At present, high education only relies on the ideological and political theory courses to guide the values of college students. The limitation becomes increasingly obvious. It is urgent to build and implement the large ideological and political educational system. It educates students by all the teaching staff "course ideology and politics". We have tried to build up this strategy for specialty courses. Curriculum ideological and political education have been practiced in basic chemistry principle course through cultivating the students' spirit of patriotism, national pride and self-confidence, undertaking ecological civilization and ecological safety education, as well as cultivating their specialty quality and specialty ability. The above practice gives full play to the moral education function of the basic chemistry principle course.

Zankai YAN,Jiajun MA
University Chemistry    2019, 34 (11): 33-37.   DOI: 10.3866/PKU.DXHX201907029
Abstract (1733)   HTML (10)    PDF(pc) (388KB)(421)       Knowledge map    Save

Based on Chaoshan Gongfu Tea Culture, the potential chemical resources of Gongfu Tea are deeply excavated and refined into School-based Chemistry curriculum. According to the requirements of students' development core literacy, the key points of curriculum and education plan are effectively combined to design a classroom teaching plan. In practical teaching, first, we start with macro phenomena, analyze the relationship between macro phenomena and molecules, and establish a cognitive model between macro and micro phenomena. Secondly, with the help of the extraction principle of chemicals, students can understand how tea artists use subtle changes in technological conditions and delicate brewing operations to blend the fragrant and delicious Gongfu tea soup. Finally, the intersection between culture and science and the communication between classical philosophy and modern education can not only guide students to explore the scientific truth in culture and cultivate their spirit of advocating science, but also enable them to understand the attitude of Chaoshan ancestors in making tea in the union of heaven and human. In such a way, students can realize that they should strive for excellence in doing things, and create infinite beautiful philosophy of life.

Exploration of 113 Talents Training System in Applied Chemistry
Xindong JIANG,Shuang GAO,Sansan YU,Hui YAO,Manhong LI,Feng YAN,Wenze LI,Linjiu XIAO
University Chemistry    2019, 34 (11): 108-112.   DOI: 10.3866/PKU.DXHX201908014
Abstract (2434)   HTML (22)    PDF(pc) (18330KB)(346)       Knowledge map    Save

In order to bridge the gap between the supply and the demand of talent cultivation, the existing talent cultivation system of applied chemistry specialty is reformed and a new "113" talent cultivation system is guided by Outcome-Based Education (OBE) education. The advanced engineering education mode is adopted to provide students with an engineering education based on the background environment of the conceptual-design-implementation-operation (CDIO) process. The characteristic "three modernizations" education mechanism, namely, cooperative education, family training and personalized guidance, are implemented. By building a new system of "113" talents training, an engineering talent training environment is formed, which takes the family as a unit, the enterprise as the background, and the project as the carrier. The problem of separating the supply from the demand of talents training for applied chemistry specialty will be fundamentally solved.

Organic chemistry is the basic course of chemistry and chemical engineering, and complex reaction and profound theory make it one of the hard courses to master in polytechnic colleges. Under current social background and the characteristics of the times for young students, it shard to keep up with the requirements of the times if the classroom only pays attention to the professional teaching and looks down on ideological education. With teaching professional contents, integrating ideological guidance and value conception into professional teaching will stimulate students' ideological resonance and learning initiative. Moreover, integrating of talent cultivation with teaching can greatly improve the efficiency and quality of classroom teaching. It also conforms to the traditional educational concepts and is beneficial for cultivating more excellent chemical talents for our country. In this paper, from the perspectives of chemistry history and hot issues analysis, we expound the specific methods to carry out curriculum politics in organic chemistry classroom along with studying and analyzing the actual effects.

Physical chemistry is a major basic course of chemistry and chemical engineering specialties for undergraduate students in colleges and universities. Its curriculum reform and improvement must keep pace with the times. This paper introduces the basic principles of course ideology and politics in physical chemistry course based on in-depth study and understanding of the connotation of "course education" in the current wave of "undergraduate oriented", that is, to integrate ideological and political elements with scientific knowledge organically through the mode of "moistening things in silence" and to train socialist builders and successors. In addition, some examples of course education including the history of scientific development, Chinese physicochemists, excellent traditional culture, interdisciplinary innovation, as well as contemporary scientists around us are presented, which would be enlightened to teaching counterparts.
