First-class course construction is the foundation of first-class undergraduate education construction. Based on the understanding of the "Two properties and one degree" standard of first-class course, key characteristics of the first-class course construction are summarized as accurate positioning, clear teaching goals, good construction foundation, advanced pedagogy, first-class construction, remarkable effectiveness and preferential demonstration. Taking the construction of first-class physical chemistry course in Shandong University as an example, the course orientation, the determination of teaching objectives and the design and implementation of the teaching are introduced. The practice and experience of the course construction are demonstrated in five aspects as first-class foundation, first-class teachers, first-class resources, first-class pedagogical ideas and first-class achievements. It can be used as the reference for the future construction of first-class courses in other universities.

With the rapid development of new energy industry, many universities have launched comprehensive experiments about preparation, characterization, battery assembly and performance testing of lithium-ion battery materials, and have achieved good teaching results. However, due to the limitations of equipment cost and experimental time, it is impossible to meet all experimental needs. We use virtual simulation technology to make students familiar with the basic operation skills of electrochemical experiments and the use of related instruments. Through the virtual experiment about the complete process of lithium-ion batteries including preparation of positive electrode materials, assembly of and performance testing during, we established a new teaching model of online and offline integration and improved the experiment efficiency and success rate in actual operation. At the same time, this model broaden students' vision and cultivate students' practical ability and innovative awareness.

As the strategic supporting department for innovative talent cultivation in agriculture and forestry major, we are facing a long-term challenge in reforming the teaching mode for basic course-organic chemistry and cultivating talented students with solid basic knowledge and strong sense of innovation. Herein a thorough survey was performing to establish the executable teaching programs for this course during the "Double-First Class Universities Plan" period. A multidimensional teaching resource library for organic chemistry course was also constructed. The new classroom teaching mode "Interest cultivation-Creative thought development-Autonomous and Cooperative learning", along with a stepwise practice teaching mode "Foundation skills-Integrated application-Innovative trial" was proposed and practiced among thirty-five majors including agriculture, forestry and veterinary, to improve the quality for innovative talent cultivation and support our first-class discipline construction. This research could probably serve as a reference for congeneric agricultural university.

The scale gap between the macro world and the micro world makes it impossible to directly observe the micro-structure, but chemical researchers must elucidate the properties of macro matter based on the micro-structure. Therefore, characterizing the micro-structure through the X-ray diffraction and other instruments is an important means to understand the micro world. However, it is hard for undergraduates to learn and understand the microstructure by using these scientific instruments due to the high instrumental running cost, complicated operation procedure and radiation safety issue. By integrating the construction concept of "combination of reality and practice", protein-ligand complexes crystallography research, the latest results of the theory of accurate prediction of ligand binding conformation, and the basic theoretical knowledge in the "Structural Chemistry Curriculum Group", we developed this virtual simulation experimental project by using modern information technology such as "3D virtual reality". This project will provide a useful method for the study of the theoretical foundation of chemistry, and development of thinking with chemical knowledge, scientific expression, and application abilities.

The experiment integrates the actual operation process of the plant to produce cleaved products by rapid pyrolysis of biomass with HPLC detection. The virtual experiment is divided into biomass sample pretreatment, rapid biomass pyrolysis, bio-oil extraction, and HPLC determination of complex components, making the biomass cleavage workshop "real" through simulation. This virtual simulation experiment fully integrates the utilization of biomass resources and basic chemistry courses (such as organic chemistry, instrumental analysis, chemical engineering principles, etc.), which are widely involved in agricultural and forestry majors with advantageous characteristics value.

By contrast, the traditional teaching mode was used in the control group. At the end of the course, the effect of the mixed teaching mode was evaluated according to interviews, messages on the teaching platform and the unified test. The results showed that the teaching effect of the mixed teaching mode was better. Moreover, all the students of the experiment group preferred the mixed teaching mode. The teaching practice proved that it was favorable for students to set study goals and build the corresponding self-regulated learning strategies.

In this teaching reform, it was found that topic selection is very important for the effective discussion. This paper analyzes by examples and discusses in detail the various factors impacting the teaching effect in the "discussion" process. The application of PAD teaching method in postgraduates' courses is helpful for developing critical thinking and independent scientific research ability, and is also beneficial to the postgraduates' research and development in the future.

How to take the student as the center and the OBE (Outcomes-based Education) concept as the guide to comprehensively cultivate students' professional ability and professional quality has become an important content of applied undergraduate teaching reform. Taking "Modern Cosmetics Science and Technology" course as an example, an online and offline blended teaching implementation mode based on product development skills and literacy was constructed. It includes diversified teaching methods, immersive learning atmosphere, PBL (Problem-Based Learning) product projects, special anchors, and technical expert status conversion. The feasibility was implemented and verified.

High-quality online course materials were reconstructed through feedback from undergraduate students and online data analysis regarding constructed learning materials on the Chao Xing Learning Platform. They were used for studying organic chemistry courses online and offline in university for nationalities. This model, based on student-centered teaching, can effectively transform students from passively accepting knowledge to actively learning and internalizing knowledge. This strategy can also enhance the students' learning initiative and the effects of learning, and hopefully be helpful to the universities in multi-ethnic areas in developing fundamental disciplined construction of organic chemistry and other courses.
