The outbreak of COVID-19 led to the closing of the schools. Teaching and studying will not be interrupted although teachers and students are out of school. Online teaching is a good approach to address this challenge. This article describes our online teaching of organic chemistry enabled by the Pedagogy Square and Live Video-based strategy. With the help of the Pedagogy Square platform, teachers can upload teaching resources, such as handouts and test sheets. Students can download all teaching resources and finish the assignments posted by the course instructors. Live Video room is used as a virtual classroom. All activities, communications and interactions in a conventional classroom can be even better realized in this virtual classroom. This online strategy is an alternative to classic in-class teaching not only during the outbreak of COVID-19, but also under other situation when normal class settings are not available.

During the fight against the new coronavirus epidemic, the "Physical Chemistry" team of Beijing Normal University used various network platforms and tools, such as MOOC of China University, Rain Classroom and WeChat Group in the teaching process. The exploration and practice of online learning of "Physical Chemistry" is carried out based on MOOC teaching, with student learning as the center and teacher guidance as the support. Taking the most difficult chapter of "fundamentals for statistical thermodynamic" as an example, we designed a complex teaching program that includes previews, watching MOOC videos in class, real-time online exercises, teachers' answers, and after-class reflection and questioning. The students were encouraged to learn independently through the reserved information, designed activities and assignments. Practice shows that the online course has cultivated the students' self-management ability, trained their critical thinking skills, and achieved good teaching results.

Remote teaching and learning have been adopted during the COVID-19 outbreak. In this particular period of time, a totally-online-teaching strategy was implemented by the teaching team of physical chemistry in Tianjin University. With the enrichment of learning resources, the optimization of the inspectors' teaching skills, as well as the elaborated managements of the whole learning process, the course has been given online successfully, though it is thought unsuitable for online teaching due to the abstruse theory and complex mathematical treatments involved in teaching. Both the central position of student and the leading role of teacher are greatly promoted in the newly developed totally-online-teaching process. The experiences obtained in this teaching process will lay great impact on teaching mode innovation in the future.

With the help of the UOOC platform and the Tencent Classroom, taking the "Polymer Structure and Performance" course as a sample, we suggested a new "online asynchronous teaching" model. Among them, the SPOC course is convenient for students to manage their learning time; "Chapter Quiz" and "Student-to-Student Mutual Evaluation" are helpful for students to obtain multi-angle feedback; project tasks are focused on case analysis so that students carry out inquiry-based learning. Overall, the "online asynchronous teaching" model breaks the time and space restrictions on teaching and learning, guarantees the quality of teaching during the epidemic, and lays the foundation for creating a "golden class".

This paper aims at the implementation of the online courses of chemistry majors in Sichuan University in response to the epidemic, and explores a more effective and reasonable way to organize teaching. Based on the investigation and feedback of teachers and students, this paper points out the difficulties and challenges of online teaching at the present stage:the classroom interaction and discussion are not smooth, the online teaching tools and methods are diversified, and the chemistry laboratory courses are not matched. Therefore, the School of Chemistry of Sichuan University will coordinate the online teaching platform, enhance the classroom interaction, and launch the "chemistry virtual simulation experiment teaching center" to ensure the teaching progress and quality during the epidemic prevention and control.

In early 2020, because of the outbreak of COVID-19, students are unable to return school on time and normal teaching activities are postponed. In order to implement the requirement of "No suspension of classes" proposed by the Ministry of Education, and to ensure the teaching quality at the same time, the coordination chemistry teaching team from Nanjing University successfully carried out the exploration and practice of online teaching of coordination chemistry by using the MOOC of coordination chemistry on "Wisdom Tree" platform as the curriculum resource, QQ Live or Tencent Meeting as the online teaching tool and Pedagogy Square as the intelligent teaching platform. This teaching form reorganizes and optimizes the available resources online, and implements the student learning process evaluation and the teacher teaching evaluation. The feedback from students and teachers indicates the success of this teaching form.

When the course was online this semester because of the outbreak of COVID-19, we explored a way to help students thinking as a chemist via home lab. We focused on the student-centered teaching method instead of the teacher-centered one, which was named as "I-Think-Talk-Do it myself" and "You talk-I do", respectively. It is demonstrated that home lab is an efficient way to raise students' interest in chemistry and improve their research abilities, including the abilities to summarize literatures, design and optimize an experiment, observe, identify and solve problems. The teaching results and the feedback from students were also discussed.

It has been two months since a boom of online education triggered by the epidemic in China. At present, we are keeping focus on how to optimize our online class. In the case of chemistry laboratory courses, there's not much that can be done to experimental operations through online teaching. While for the traditional teaching procedure, there is still room for improvement in terms of integrating research to teaching, interactivity, etc. This paper will present some design strategies for improving teaching the organic chemistry laboratory online. To be specific, it describes how teaching materials like the lesson plan and virtual lab were coordinated into the online teaching. And we will also discuss the holistic approach to a better outcome for students' active learning and integration research into teaching by redesigning multiple phases, such as the pre-laboratory preparation, live online class, experimental operations.
