Abstract: Cysteine-modified gold nanocolloids were synthesized via hydrothermal synthesis and ligand displacement methods. The optical characteristics of the nanocolloids were systematically investigated using UV-Vis spectrophotometry to evaluate the effects of concentration, pH, temporal stability, and metal ion interactions on colloidal stability. This integrated experiment encompasses nanocolloid preparation, characterization, and property analysis, incorporating multidisciplinary techniques from instrumental analysis, physical chemistry, and inorganic chemistry. The study not only enhances students’ understanding of colloidal physicochemical properties but also develops comprehensive experimental skills, while fostering research interest in the applications of gold nanocolloids across chemical and biomedical fields.
