Abstract: Addressing the challenges in university chemical laboratory safety management—including multiple hazards, interdisciplinary complexities, spatial dispersion, and high personnel turnover—this study established a comprehensive “Five-Defense Integration” safety framework focusing on institutional, educational, technological, material, and human resource dimensions. Implemented systematically at Sun Yat-Sen University’s School of Chemistry, the initiative involved revising safety protocols, implementing multi-tiered safety training programs, deploying intelligent monitoring systems, standardizing safety equipment allocation, and forming specialized management teams. These measures achieved systematic, standardized, and routine safety management. Empirical results demonstrate the system’s effectiveness in enhancing laboratory safety, with progressively reduced hazards from 2021 to 2024 and zero major accidents attained, offering a replicable model for chemical laboratory safety management in higher education.
