Abstract:

Aiming at the training of energy and chemical engineering specialty for application-oriented talents with innovative spirit and practical ability, we tried to carry out project-based learning method in inorganic and analytical chemistry course. Taking "photocatalytic water-splitting for hydrogen production" as an example, we designed three tasks including analyzing the conversion mode of solar energy to hydrogen energy, exploring the basic principle of photocatalytic water-splitting for hydrogen production, and designing the catalyst for photocatalytic water-splitting for hydrogen production, so as to solve practical complex problems. The multi-disciplinary core knowledge was reorganized in project situation, forming an organic whole of cognition. In the process of independent thinking and teamwork, students would experience the research process of scientists, deeply understand the value and function of theoretical knowledge in helping solve practical problems, and would truly realize the "learning for application", cultivating students' practical ability and innovative spirit.
