Synthesis, Characterization and Luminescence Properties of 8-Hydroxyquinoline and Tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato) Aluminum: A Comprehensive Chemistry Experiment

摘要:

首先采用Skraup法制备8-羟基喹啉(HQ),涉及到有机实验中的回流加热、水蒸气蒸馏、结晶与重结晶等基本操作;然后利用合成的8-羟基喹啉来制备AlQ3,通过返滴定法测定其中的铝含量;最后测量8-羟基喹啉与AlQ3的红外光谱、核磁共振氢谱、紫外-可见光谱和荧光发射光谱。本实验涵盖合成、表征到性能测试,让学生认识和完成了一个基本的科研过程。

Abstract:

First, 8-hydroxyquinoline(HQ) was synthesized by the Skraup method, which involves basic skills of organic chemistry experiment such as reflux heating, steam distillation, crystallization and recrystallization. Secondly, the synthesized 8-hydroxyquinoline was used to prepare AlQ3 in which Al content was measured by back titration. Finally, infrared spectra, hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance spectra, UV-Vis absorption spectra and fluorescence emission spectra of 8-hydroxyquinoline as well as AlQ3 were measured. This experiment covers synthesis, characterization and performance testing, facilitating students to understand and complete a basic research process.
