Abstract:

This paper illustrates the teaching of the undergraduate curriculum "spectral analysis" by the NMR analysis of dehydrocurvularin. Dehydrocurvularin possesses several functional groups including benzene ring, double bond, phenolic hydroxyl, carbonyl, and ester group, and showed distinct and recognizable NMR signals, which is suitable for teaching of chemical shifts, coupling constants, and 2D NMR analysis.

Key words: Spectral analysis, Nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum, Structure elucidation, Dehydrocurvularin
