University Chemistry is an education-focused academic journal supervised by the Ministry of Education and jointly sponsored by Peking University and the Chinese Chemical Society. Its mission is to promote the deepening of university chemistry education reform and to contribute to the improvement of chemistry teaching in China. The journal’s readership includes university chemistry teachers, graduate and undergraduate students, high school chemistry teachers, high school students with strong interests in chemistry, as well as administrators and professionals in the field of chemistry education. Published monthly and distributed both domestically and internationally, University Chemistry follows internationally recognized publishing practices and operates under an editor-in-chief and associate editor system. All published manuscripts undergo peer review. The journal is indexed by Chemical Abstracts (CA), China Core Journal Alternative Database, the China Journal Full-text Database, and VIP Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database, among others. The main sections and submission requirements are as follows:
Chemistry Today Publish popular science review articles to introduce the current research status, latest progress, and development trends in frontier areas of chemistry and related interdisciplinary fields, targeting chemistry teachers, university students majoring in chemistry, and high school students with a strong interest in chemistry. Authors should be engaged in and familiar with the research topic, possess a broad academic vision, and ensure the content is novel, systematic, clear, and highly readable.
Study and Reform of Chemical Education Study major issues in the reform of higher chemical education; present original ideas on fundamental and leading problems in chemistry teaching; exchange experiences in teaching reform and curriculum development; discuss key and difficult points in teaching; and introduce new teaching content and methods. Articles should be problem-oriented, with advanced and innovative viewpoints based on practical experience, avoiding empty discussions and assumptions.
Survey of Chemistry Introduce new knowledge and developments in the theory, practice, and application of chemistry. Concepts should be accurate, writing concise, and content systematic and in-depth. Articles should be enlightening and avoid repeating material from books and journals.
Chemistry Laboratory Research on laboratory teaching objectives, standards, and assessment; design of new experiments and improvement of existing ones; application of modern instruments and equipment in experiments; new experiences in laboratory management, etc. Articles should have original ideas, detailed content, and reliable data verified through practice, with strong feasibility and ease of promotion. They should meet safety, green, and environmental requirements, and better cultivate students’ experimental skills and research abilities.
Between Teacher and Student Exchange learning experiences, explore questions that can inspire creative thinking, and introduce enlightening problem-solving methods. Articles should be closely related to teaching, with a clear theme and easy-to-read content.
Self Studies Publish analyses of difficult problems, special-topic guidance, and brief experiences. Articles should have clear viewpoints, focus on a single topic, and be concise and impactful.
Future Chemist Targeting undergraduate and graduate students, this section includes reflections on fundamental chemistry knowledge and experimental operations, as well as literature reviews or small inventions related to the teaching content formed during the learning process. Articles should offer unique insights, be thought-provoking, and follow standard formatting.
Chemical Olympiad Competition Publish analyses of the preliminary and final examination questions of the Chinese Chemistry Olympiad, Chinese translations of original questions from the International Chemistry Olympiad, and related commentary articles on the National Undergraduate Chemistry Experiment Invitational Competition.
Science Education Publish popular science articles in chemistry, which may include introductions to chemistry knowledge closely related to daily life, recommendations for simple science experiments, or summaries of science outreach activities centered on experiments. Articles should be scientifically rigorous, presented in a clear and accessible manner, with a light, lively, and humorous style that fully showcases the charm of chemistry.
The journal also includes sections such as Chemistry History, Chemistry Education–International, and AP Chemistry. Contributions from university faculty, students, and chemistry educators and researchers from other institutions are warmly welcomed.
