Abstract: Spectral analysis is one of the fundamental courses commonly offered in graduate chemistry education in China, playing a vital role in cultivating high-level talents. The advent of the digital intelligence era has created new opportunities for transformation and development. This course encompasses a variety of spectroscopic knowledge, techniques, and analytical methods; however, there are deficiencies in the deep integration of ideological and political elements and the application of information-based approaches. This paper focuses on the construction of graduate courses in spectral analysis in the intelligent era, exploring reform pathways for integrating ideological and political education with information-based teaching. First, an overview of the graduate course “spectral analysis” at Tianjin University is provided, along with an analysis of the necessity for teaching reform. Second, the means of curriculum teaching reform, specific exploration and practice processes, and course evaluation are introduced. In terms of ideological and value-oriented education, historical cases of spectroscopic discoveries and breakthroughs in domestic spectroscopic technologies are incorporated to connect the development of spectroscopy with patriotism and the scientific spirit. For digital and intelligent teaching, we have developed an adaptive learning and hierarchical teaching system, integrated cutting-edge research cases, and achieved multidimensional teaching encompassing “principles, techniques, and applications”. The reform of the evaluation system abandons traditional examination models, introducing process-oriented assessments such as spectral interpretation reports and innovative project proposals, combined with AI technology to generate personalized learning diagnostics. Finally, the effectiveness of the curriculum teaching reform and future improvement plans are summarized. Practical experience indicates that students’ classroom participation and course identification have significantly improved. We will continue to focus on refining the curriculum and teaching evaluation system, providing useful insights for educators undertaking similar curriculum reforms.
