Abstract:

The integration of computational simulations into the teaching of college chemistry courses is a novel method of visualizing abstract concepts for students and improving the teaching quality. The fundamental principles and operation of COMSOL Multiphysics, a software for multi-physical field simulation, are presented in this paper. Several examples were presented to illustrate the application of this software in the teaching of college physical chemistry, including phase equilibrium, chemical equilibrium, and chemical dynamics. According to the feedback from students, the visual demonstration during classroom teaching improves their understanding and mastery of the knowledge, as well as their enthusiasm and deep thinking.
