Abstract: Fehling reagent serves as an important tool for identifying aliphatic aldehydes and reducing sugars, as well as for the quantitative analysis of reducing sugars. Current organic chemistry textbooks, both domestic and international, lack discussion regarding the structure of Cu2+-tartrate chelates in Fehling reagent. This study presents recent advancements in elucidating the structure of Cu2+-tartrate chelate complexes within Fehling reagent, thereby addressing the existing knowledge gap in textbook descriptions of Fehling reagent and its associated reactions.
