Abstract: Chongxi Gao (1901–1952) was a distinguished Chinese inorganic chemist and chemical educator. His research spanned multiple disciplines, including inorganic synthesis, organic synthesis, analytical chemistry, and chemical engineering. Academically, he made groundbreaking contributions to rare element chemistry, analytical chemistry, and organic chemistry, particularly in the synthesis of selenium-containing compounds and the trace analysis of microelements. In applied research, he pioneered a domestic borosilicate hard glass production technology. This innovation provided crucial technical support to the Beijing Glass Factory and marked a significant step toward the localization of key glass materials in China. As an educator, he emphasized integrating experimental practice with theoretical instruction and invited renowned experts to lecture, cultivating numerous high-quality chemical engineering professionals. This article systematically reviews Gao's growth experience, scientific career, and major achievements in inorganic synthesis, analytical methods, and materials chemistry, and summarizes his enduring significance in academic excellence, scientific exploration, talent cultivation, and patriotic devotion.
