Abstract: Modern instrumental analysis is a core course for undergraduate programs in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, and related disciplines. It is distinguished by its theoretical abstraction, technical intensity, and broad applicability, with X-ray-related techniques and spectroscopic analysis methods representing both the focal points and the major challenges in course instruction. In response to persistent issues in traditional teaching—such as fragmented knowledge points, unclear logical coherence, considerable comprehension difficulties, and an overemphasis on knowledge transmission at the expense of value-oriented education—this paper draws on five key teaching modules: X-ray principles and techniques, X-ray scintillators, principles of spectroscopic analysis, Raman spectroscopy, and fluorescence analysis. These modules are organized around the unifying theme of “light–matter interactions” to construct an integrated teaching framework that follows a “principle–structure–performance–application–value” progression. Through the adoption of comparative teaching methods, case-driven learning, and the deliberate integration of ideological and political education into the curriculum, this approach effectively resolves the problem of knowledge fragmentation while achieving a harmonious balance between knowledge delivery and value guidance. The study offers practical insights and a replicable model for ongoing reforms in course teaching.
