Abstract: The ocean serves as a vital carrier of national strategic resources and plays a key role in the global carbon cycle and climate regulation. In the context of the coordinated advancement of the “Maritime Power” strategy and the “Dual Carbon” goals, it is of great significance to cultivate undergraduate talents with marine awareness, green and low-carbon concepts, and a solid foundation in chemistry. CO2 capture from seawater, as an important direction in marine carbon dioxide removal, involves seawater carbonate equilibria, dissolved inorganic carbon, acid-base regulation, electrochemical pH swings, ocean alkalinity enhancement, and environmental safety assessment. These topics are closely related to undergraduate courses such as general chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, electrochemistry, and environmental chemistry. To address the insufficient integration of “Dual Carbon” cases with marine chemistry content in undergraduate teaching, the limited application scenarios of foundational knowledge, and students’ abstract understanding of the marine carbon cycle, this paper designs a case-based teaching module centered on CO2 capture from seawater. This module transforms frontier research questions into classroom discussions, simplified experiments, data analysis, and ideological and political education materials, guiding students to apply fundamental concepts such as acid-base equilibria, buffer systems, Henry’s law, alkalinity titration, and electrochemistry to real-world marine problems. It enhances students’ ability to use chemical principles to analyze “Dual Carbon” and marine environmental issues, and strengthens their sense of responsibility in serving the development of a maritime power.
