Abstract: This paper summarizes the restructuring of the polymer curriculum in chemistry programs at Xiamen University, guided by regional industrial demands. In response to issues such as fragmented knowledge and the disconnect between learning and application, the reform adopts industrial clusters in the West Coast Economic Zone as teaching scenarios and establishes a vertically integrated course group that spans fundamentals, applications, and frontiers, with seamless articulation between undergraduate and graduate levels. Taking the “Polymer Chemistry” course as a case study, the reform reconstructs teaching content through case-led and problem-driven approaches under the principle of “industry-education integration and three-dimensional coherence”, developing a four-dimensional teaching model that integrates case immersion, virtual simulation, project-based inquiry, and field-based observation, supported by a process-oriented, competency-based multi-faceted evaluation system. The reform effectively stimulates students’ intrinsic motivation and enhances their abilities in knowledge integration, complex problem-solving, and insight into regional industrial technologies, offering a reference for integrated curriculum reform in chemistry programs under the context of emerging engineering education.
