Abstract:

The Qiangji program is a pilot project started in 2020, aiming to reform the enrollment and cultivation of talents of the basic disciplines. Chemistry as one discipline of the program plays an important role in the selection and cultivation of top innovative talents, actively meeting the strategic needs of the country. The program of chemistry would develop an education mode based on the fundamental chemistry with the consideration of engineering. The program would be featured by the cultivation of top innovative talents with both solid fundamental knowledge and excellent practical innovation capability. This paper comprehensively introduces the thinking, research and strategies of the first-year program of chemistry in Shanghai Jiao Tong University in terms of orientation, feature, education objectives and teaching system construction. This paper and the practice in Shanghai Jiao Tong University provide the theoretical and practical basis for the further success of the Qiangji program.
