Telling China's Stories Based on Subject Core Competencies: Practice of Curriculum Ideological & Political Education in "General Chemistry (H)" at Zhejiang University

Abstract:

Curriculum ideological & political education is to "foster virtue through education", that is, in the spirit of "ten years of nurturing a tree while a hundred years of training a man", to play an effective synergistic role in fostering students' virtue throughout their whole process of study. In this paper, we share our pedagogical view of course development for ideological & political education via sorting out new education and cultivation objectives, new teaching schemes and new design of example cases in the course of "General chemistry (H)" at Zhejiang University. Also, we share our experience by relying on the teachers as the main executors, the course development as the basic approach and the classroom as the primary location for effectively practicing ideological & political education along with integrating cultivation of chemistry subject knowledge.
