Abstract: Amid the ongoing advancement of emerging engineering education and the rapid evolution of the new energy industry, traditional talent training models for Energy Chemistry majors in local universities have increasingly revealed critical shortcomings, including a disconnect between research and teaching, underdeveloped practical training mechanisms, and a poor alignment between students’ innovative capabilities and industry demands. Drawing on its experience in developing the Energy Chemistry program, Wenzhou University addresses the competency requirements for interdisciplinary innovative talents under the national “Dual Carbon” strategy and the evolving needs of the new energy sector. The university has established an integrated science-education talent cultivation mechanism characterized by “research empowering teaching, teaching reinforcing research, and deep industry-education collaboration.” Through targeted reforms—such as redesigning a modular curriculum aligned with disciplinary frontiers and industrial needs, implementing a four-year continuous research mentorship system, and constructing tiered research practice platforms—the university embeds research outcomes and innovative thinking throughout the entire talent development process. This approach offers a replicable and scalable model for talent cultivation in Energy Chemistry and related disciplines.
