Abstract: Question 6 of the 39th China Chemistry Olympiad (Preliminary Round) examines core concepts in hydrogen storage technology through four key dimensions: high-pressure hydrogen storage, liquid-phase hydrogen storage, organic liquid hydrogen storage, and metal-organic framework (MOF) based adsorption storage. This interdisciplinary problem integrates principles from physical chemistry, organic chemistry, and materials chemistry. Through systematic derivation and comprehensive analysis of each sub-question, this study addresses both general scientific literacy and specialized knowledge acquisition. The analysis reveals the examination’s dual purpose of guiding students to critically evaluate cutting-edge research while reinforcing fundamental chemical concepts. Practical teaching recommendations are provided to support competition preparation and enhance chemistry education.
