Abstract: The basic organic chemistry experiment course serves as a vital platform for developing students’ experimental operation skills and enhancing practical application competencies. It plays a pivotal role in cultivating problem-solving abilities and fostering scientific inquiry. However, the current teaching and evaluation systems for basic organic experiments still face numerous challenges that limit the course’s educational effectiveness. This study systematically examines existing issues in basic organic experiment courses and proposes a comprehensive teaching reform framework addressing four key dimensions: curriculum content expansion, experimental protocol optimization, ideological education enhancement, and evaluation mechanism improvement. Through these systematic reforms, we aim to transform the course from a “knowledge-transfer” model to a “competency-development” approach, establishing a progressive three-tier experimental teaching system encompassing “basic skill training”, “comprehensive ability development”, and “innovative thinking cultivation”. This reform initiative seeks to effectively nurture a new generation of chemistry and materials science professionals equipped with robust practical skills, rigorous scientific attitudes, and sustainable development awareness.
