Abstract: This study focuses on the synthesis of tiamulin, a pleuromutilin-class antibiotic, using pleuromutilin as the starting material through a designed efficient and continuous convergent synthetic route. Implemented as an open innovation experiment for third-year undergraduates at our institution, this project not only enhances students' practical skills in organic synthesis but also cultivates their national identity and patriotism through integrated ideological and political education. Such comprehensive training establishes a solid foundation for their future contributions to China's scientific research endeavors.
