Abstract: To meet the talent cultivation needs of the Sino-foreign cooperative program in Atmospheric Science, School of Chemistry at Nanjing University has developed a compulsory English-taught General Chemistry course for the Nanjing-Helsinki Institute. Guided by the principles of “strengthening foundational knowledge, fostering interdisciplinary integration, and serving disciplinary needs”, the course establishes an integrated teaching system that combines fundamental chemical principles with case studies in atmospheric science. A teaching model of “English immersion, tiered support, and dynamic feedback” has been implemented to ensure teaching quality. This course has effectively provided students with a solid chemical foundation while enhancing their discipline-specific English proficiency and interdisciplinary competencies, offering valuable insights for developing similar courses.
