Abstract: The fundamental theories of medical organic chemistry and cutting-edge advancements in materials science exhibit a mutually reinforcing relationship. Incorporating frontier materials research into teaching practices plays a pivotal role in consolidating students' basic knowledge, fostering scientific interest, and nurturing innovative talents. Using the terrylenedicarboximide-anthraquinone dyad (FTQ) for NIR-II photothermal therapy as a case study, this paper thoroughly examines practical approaches to integrate materials science advancements into medical organic chemistry education. Through comprehensive reforms in pre-class, in-class, and post-class instructional design, we demonstrate significant improvements in teaching quality and effective stimulation of students' enthusiasm for interdisciplinary exploration.
