Abstract: Building upon the principle of alkali-induced gelation of konjac glucomannan (KGM), this study designed and implemented a chemistry outreach experiment involving the preparation of konjac-based facial cleansing puffs. The experiment innovatively combines natural polymer hydrogels, green household chemistry, and home-based experimentation using food-grade materials, enabling participants to create environmentally friendly and practical cleansing products. Tailored to diverse audiences, the outreach program features a multi-level interactive approach incorporating instructional videos, science manuals, narrative explanations, hands-on activities, and extension experiments. This comprehensive design successfully achieves three key outreach objectives: ensuring safety and operability, demonstrating underlying principles, and delivering practical outcomes. The experiment vividly illustrates both the fascination and utility of chemistry, facilitating the integration of polymer science into daily life while enhancing public scientific literacy.
