Abstract: Electrochemistry serves as a crucial discipline in both fundamental and applied sciences. However, most university chemistry laboratory curricula lack corresponding experimental modules in this field. To address this gap, we designed an eight-hour electrochemical experiment. By replacing the conventional oxygen evolution reaction with the oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, we successfully produced high-value-added 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid while simultaneously reducing the energy consumption of hydrogen production. This experiment enables students to deepen their understanding of electrochemical principles, gain insights into cutting-edge research developments in chemistry, and cultivate their interest in scientific inquiry.
