Chemistry bonds and mechanical forces: solution and analysis of problem 3 of the 38th Chinese Chemistry Olympiad (preliminary)

Abstract: In the 38th Chinese Chemistry Olympiad (preliminary), a problem titled “Chemical Bonds and Mechanical Forces” sparked extensive discussion among high school students and teachers nationwide. This problem features an innovative design that embodies interdisciplinary thinking. This article provides a detailed analysis of the problem. It deduces the solution through rigorous logical reasoning and knowledge within the scope of high school chemistry competitions, and expands on some related concepts.
