Abstract: Popularization of chemistry plays a pivotal role in enhancing public scientific literacy, fostering social harmony, and improving quality of life. This study creatively employs the plot of Nezha's “lotus root body reconstruction” from the popular film “Nezha: The Defiant” as an entry point for chemical exploration. We systematically analyze the chemical composition of lotus roots, highlighting how their porous structure provides an optimal microenvironment for cell growth, with components like lotus root starch and proteins playing crucial roles in the reconstruction process. The discussion bridges traditional concepts with modern materials science by examining template methods: specifically, the hard-template approach using anodic aluminum oxide for silver nanowire synthesis and the soft-template method utilizing surfactant self-assembly for guided material growth. Furthermore, we present lotus-inspired biomimetic materials, including osteoblast-proliferating nanofibers and self-cleaning functional coatings. This interdisciplinary approach offers innovative strategies for popularization of chemistry, enabling public understanding of nanomaterial synthesis and applications through familiar narratives, thereby stimulating scientific interest, bridging the chemistry-public gap, and advancing chemical popularization efforts.
