Abstract: The fourth question of the 38th China Chemistry Olympiad (preliminary) tested candidates’ understanding and analysis of discotic bilayer micelles. This paper provides a detailed breakdown of the question, utilizing buffer solution formulas, distribution coefficient equations, and other relevant formulas. The forces that contribute to the formation of the discotic bilayer micelle structure are examined from both micellar and supramolecular perspectives. Additionally, the structure, properties, and applications of 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DMPE) are discussed, offering further insight into this important compound.
