Abstract:

Comprehensive design experiment is an important way to cultivate the abilities of college students to independently solve problems and be innovative. A comprehensive design experiment titled "Comparison of two electrochemical sensor methods for determining glucose" was conducted. Students were asked to independently design two types of electrochemical sensors (i.e., a chemically modified electrode and biosensor) for determining glucose by conducting literature investigations. Comparing the linear ranges, sensitivities, and selectivities of the two sensor methods allowed students to independently choose the appropriate method for determining the glucose content in fruit juice. This project helped students to understand the advanced work involved in instrument-based analysis, improved their interest in learning and effective experimental teaching, and cultivated their scientific research skills through innovative learning.
