Abstract: Photocatalysis is an environmentally friendly technology that efficiently harnesses solar energy, characterized by sustainability, broad applicability, and low cost. Among its various applications, photocatalytic nitrate reduction for ammonia production stands out as a promising method for environmental remediation and sustainable ammonia synthesis. To address the gap in experimental teaching related to photocatalytic research, we have introduced photocatalytic nitrate reduction for ammonia production as a key component in university chemistry laboratory courses. This experiment encompasses the preparation and characterization of ZnTi-Layered Double Hydroxides (LDH) and explores its ammonia production performance. It provides students with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of basic chemistry concepts, as well as to apply inorganic and analytical chemistry techniques. Additionally, the experiment fosters students’ scientific curiosity, enhances their practical skills, and promotes teamwork and collaboration.
