Abstract: Flow cytometry enables the detection of scattered light and fluorescence emitted by cells when illuminated vertically by a laser beam, thereby facilitating comprehensive cellular analysis. The advancements in photoelectric technology have driven it from single-parameter to multi-parameter analysis, culminating in the development of full-spectrum flow cytometry. This evolution allows for the acquisition of extensive biological information from complex samples and has a wide range of influences. The article elaborates on the historical development, principles, and diverse applications of flow cytometry, and emphasizes the innovations in spectral technology. Additionally, it outlines potential future directions for the field.
