Abstract: Against the backdrop of the deepening “dual carbon” strategy and the rapid development of professional degree graduate education in China, local applied universities face an urgent need to integrate theory with practice in cultivating materials and chemical engineering master's students. Based on Zaozhuang University's orientation of “local, applied, open, and engineering-oriented” education, this paper focuses on teaching reform practices for cultivating talents in the context of the “dual carbon” goals. It systematically expounds on the reform measures and preliminary outcomes of empowering talent cultivation with theoretical chemistry methods from four dimensions: curriculum system restructuring, teaching method innovation, deepened integration of industry and education, and cultural education integration. The research shows that by constructing a four-in-one curriculum system of “theoretical foundation—method training—engineering practice—strategic vision”, implementing a “case-driven + project-based” teaching model, and adopting a “dual-supervisor system” with “one-year enterprise practice”, the inaugural cohort of master's students has made positive progress in interdisciplinary integration and the cultivation of engineering practice abilities. This paper provides a practical paradigm for local applied universities delivering materials and chemical engineering professional master's education in service of the national “dual carbon” strategy.
