Abstract:

In the implementation of the Top Talent Training Program, a dynamic management process has been performed at College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering, Peking University. Freshmen and sophomores are required to follow an integrated fundamental courses curriculum, and junior and senior students are encouraged to join individualized learning programs and scientific research projects. The mode for "training innovative talents via high-level scientific research" has been explored. Fundamental chemistry courses have been taught in Chinese and English respectively, and reading-discussing seminars were set up to meet different demands of the students. In 2016, with the launching of the comprehensive reform plan in Peking University, the teaching guiding ideology which emphasizes on "integrating, multi-level, open, fundamentals-focusing, and innovative" modes were further promoted. Based on the learning of fundamental theories and laboratory skills in chemistry, mathematics and physics, a diversified and personalized curriculum system was carried out that aimed to enable the students to select suitable courses and route for their academic development.
