Abstract: In response to the development needs of the Innovative National Strategy, we have reformed the organic chemistry course by addressing various aspects, including teaching design, objectives, content, pedagogical mode and method, extracurricular activities, and assessment strategies, with the aim of establishing a high-quality platform for ideological and political education. This reform is anchored in the requirements of organic chemistry within the framework of the national strategic innovation. We have developed a systematic approach to integrate ideological and political education into the curriculum, supported by corresponding cases studies. In practice, the course encourages students to engage in active learning, deep thinking, and collaborative communication. This approach significantly enhances students’ sense of achievement in learning organic chemistry while reinforcing their professional knowledge and ability literacy. Additionally, it incorporates elements of ideological education to support the cultivation applied, research-oriented talents in the organic chemistry field. This model can serve as a reference for implementing ideological and political education in other foundational chemistry courses.
