Abstract: Transition metal-mediated organic reactions constitute essential content in both fundamental and advanced undergraduate courses as well as graduate programs in chemistry and chemical engineering. This paper presents an exploratory discussion on case-based teaching methodologies for this subject, drawing from recent Organic Chemistry teaching practices. Focusing on transition metal-mediated organic reactions as a starting point, we systematically examine various aspects including teaching models, curricular content, educational orientation, and case database development. The teaching effectiveness is evaluated and illustrated with specific examples.
