Abstract: Organic Chemistry, a mandatory foundational course for first-year Animal Medicine major, effectively integrates core principles of basic chemistry and medical science. This course plays a pivotal role in establishing students' comprehensive chemical knowledge framework, while fostering their analytical competencies, experimental techniques, and innovative thinking. Addressing the challenge that approximately one-quarter of students possess limited high school chemistry background, our teaching team has implemented a student-centered, teacher-guided approach. We have developed a blended learning model that combines online and offline instruction, incorporating both fundamental and advanced knowledge points through flipped classroom methodology and group discussions. This pedagogical strategy aims to facilitate students’ academic progression by overcoming learning barriers through targeted instruction. The model not only ensures efficient knowledge transfer but also emphasizes holistic skill development and value formation. Using “Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Their Medical Applications” as a case study, this paper illustrates the design framework and implementation strategies of this approach, which has demonstrated significant educational outcomes.
