Abstract: This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of the content and utilization status of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry textbooks designed for non-chemistry majors, systematically identifying deficiencies in subject relevance and content timeliness. In alignment with contemporary higher education reform objectives, we propose a novel textbook development framework guided by the principles of “maintaining contemporaneity and fostering interdisciplinary integration”. First, adhering to the Ministry of Education's directive that “curriculum reform must be rooted in textbook reform”, we developed a structured content selection framework to facilitate interdisciplinary knowledge integration. Second, through the practical experience of compiling the Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry textbook, we implemented an innovative “professional-ability-quality” tri-dimensional writing paradigm, effectively incorporating ideological and political education elements along with traditional Chinese cultural content into the disciplinary knowledge system. The textbook development plan established in this study features a dynamically updated interdisciplinary knowledge module, constructs a student-centered ability cultivation system, develops teaching cases integrating socialist core values, and enhances the educational function of textbooks. The final textbook serves dual purposes as both a teaching reference and a quality cultivation guide, offering a reference model for chemistry textbook development for non-chemistry majors.
