Abstract: Current foundational organic chemistry instruction, while systematic, is somewhat disconnected from cutting-edge research and industrial applications. Taking organic amine synthesis as a starting point, this article demonstrates the limitations of classical methods in the synthesis of aromatic and chiral amines. By comparing traditional amine preparation methods with metal-catalyzed C-N coupling technologies, and illustrating with cases from pharmaceutical synthesis, it dedicates to exploring pathways for integrating cutting-edge advancements into undergraduate teaching, aiming to construct a more contemporary knowledge framework in organic chemistry.
