Abstract: Current environmental chemistry experiment teaching primarily focuses on verification-based approaches with limited opportunities for independent design. Utilizing our self-developed pilot-scale platform for multi-process wastewater treatment, our research team has transformed traditional fragmented experiments into comprehensive inquiry-based experiments, establishing the Hook-Blueprint-Test-Yield (HBTY) teaching theoretical framework. Practical results demonstrate that this teaching model effectively enhances students’ abilities in independent inquiry, knowledge integration and transfer, as well as teamwork. This approach provides a valuable reference for transitioning similar experimental courses from knowledge verification to fostering innovative competencies.
