Abstract: Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) represent a novel class of crystalline porous polymers formed through covalent bonding between organic building blocks. Characterized by well-defined pore structures, tunable functionalities, and remarkable stability, COFs demonstrate significant potential for applications in gas adsorption/separation, catalysis, energy storage, and biomedical fields. This review provides a concise overview of COFs, including their fundamental concepts, classification schemes, synthetic methodologies, historical development, and emerging applications. The article concludes with perspectives on both the opportunities and challenges in the future advancement of COF materials.
