Abstract: Addressing the national need for cultivating talents in science and engineering, the Chemistry Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center at Wuhan University has implemented sequential experimental projects to overcome limitations in traditional organic chemistry teaching, such as fragmented operational training and inadequate development of scientific thinking. Within the “basic-comprehensive-innovative” three-stage progressive curriculum framework, this approach aims to enhance students' experimental thinking and innovation capabilities in organic chemistry. The implementation relies on modular design and open laboratory mechanisms, featuring multi-step synthetic sequence experiments and comparative separation method modules that incorporate green chemistry principles to foster scientific problem-solving skills. By integrating cutting-edge research achievements into teaching, a comprehensive research practice chain has been established. Results demonstrates that this approach not only deepens the integrated application of fundamental techniques but also bridges the gap between skill training and research practice, significantly improving students' abilities in comprehensive analysis and problem-solving. This provides an operational model for systematic innovation in experimental teaching within the context of emerging engineering education.
