Abstract:

The outbreak of COVID-19 led to the closing of the schools. Teaching and studying will not be interrupted although teachers and students are out of school. Online teaching is a good approach to address this challenge. This article describes our online teaching of organic chemistry enabled by the Pedagogy Square and Live Video-based strategy. With the help of the Pedagogy Square platform, teachers can upload teaching resources, such as handouts and test sheets. Students can download all teaching resources and finish the assignments posted by the course instructors. Live Video room is used as a virtual classroom. All activities, communications and interactions in a conventional classroom can be even better realized in this virtual classroom. This online strategy is an alternative to classic in-class teaching not only during the outbreak of COVID-19, but also under other situation when normal class settings are not available.
