Molecular magnetism researches the electronic structures of inorganic coordination complexes and organic radicals and their effects on the magnetic properties. The recent developments of molecular nanomagnets reveal that the magnetic bistablity can be achieved in an individual molecule, which is considered as a potential candidate for data storage materials of ultrahigh density. The well-defined quantum states of molecular nanomagnets also offer the chemical tuning access in the quantum decoherence investigation, laying the material foundation of quantum computer. In this paper, we briefly introduce the idea and properties of molecular nanomagnets, and the related researches are reviewed.

The guidance mode will improve innovation quality and engineering practice ability of students, and form the cultivating mode of local universities.
This paper focuses on an investigation of case-based teaching in the analytical chemistry course. The research includes an overview of the selection, design, implementation, and evaluation of the case model. The case-based teaching model makes students active and improves their views and skills in analytical chemistry course. Research of case-based teaching in analytical chemistry course will build an excellent rapport between teachers and students, and, ultimately, lead to improvements in analytical chemistry course.
Based on the reform of trimester in University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the course of "The Popular Science Experiments of Chemistry in Life" was first opened during summer semester in 2014. This course was a public elective course, offered for the junior undergraduates who did not major in chemistry. The objective, contents, and characteristic of the course were introduced in this paper. The opening of the course would provide a chance for students to study chemistry via chemical experiments, which could further broaden their knowledge, achieve interdisciplinary integration, and combination of science and arts.
The platform of digital top-quality teaching resource in analytical chemistry has been constructed using the course website as the network platform, which complies with the main line of classroom instruction. The digital teaching resource effectively integrated the faculty resources, advanced teaching methods, characteristic teaching material and multimedia resources in college of chemistry and chemical engineering. The platform improves teaching method by using modern information network technology, promotes the reform of the teaching mode of "stereoscopic teaching", and ultimately promotes the comprehensive construction of the course, the teaching base, the teaching team and the teaching material. At the same time, the construction of the platform also aims at exploring and solving the problems in construction, sharing and effective use of digital teaching resources.
Based on the chemistry courses in pharmaceutical major and practical pharmaceutical course development, research and discussion on the integration of the laboratory course contents and reconstruction of the practical educational system of pharmaceutical chemistry-related laboratory courses are presented in the paper.
In the analytical chemistry curriculum of undergraduate education, the teaching of instrumental analysis laboratory course is getting more and more important. This paper, taking the experiment of capillary electrophoresis for isomers separation as an example, discussed the efficient approaches to improve the instrumental analysis laboratory teaching effectiveness.
In order to meet the training needs of the academic, applied and interdisciplinary graduates, the teaching reform and practice of school public course "surface physical chemistry" was carried out in Harbin Institute of Technology. The necessity of classification teaching of the course was discussed and two kinds of teaching content systems were established according to the needs of the classification training of graduates. The learning demands and undergraduate foundations of graduate students with different types are fully considered in the teaching organization and implementation and accumulative-type assessment as well. In the teaching processes, the combination of teaching and scientific research and the unification of theory and the practice are much concerned, which really serve the classification of graduate student training. In this way, the reform of the course is adapted to the demands of the talent cultivation for two types of graduate students and interdisciplinary graduate students.
In the teaching reform of polymer chemistry, the theoretical knowledge system of polymer chemistry, which is built on the study of the organic chemistry and physical chemistry, is established for students. The quality education and innovative spirit were developed by combining classroom teaching, laboratory teaching and the production practice. Meanwhile the students‘professional knowledge was expanded in the frontier field of polymer chemistry. Thus, students’learning interest was further improved.
It is very important to describe organic reaction processes with molecular orbitals, especially frontier orbitals, for correct and completely understanding of organic reaction mechanisms. Molecular orbital description can provide useful information on selectivity and stereochemistry of organic reactions. Molecular orbital descriptions on several classic organic reactions, including aliphatic and aromatic nucleophilic substitutions, electrophilic aromatic substitution, addition and elimination, are discussed.
A new college open experiment of chemistry-preparation of mesoporous TiO2 by a fast solgel method was developed in this paper. In view of our newest achievements in scientific research, the experiment was involved in fast preparation and the characterization analysis of mesoporous TiO2. Through the experimental process, the students' chemical professional knowledge will be expanded, their interest in scientific research will be motivated, and their innovative ability and the ability to undertake independent scientific research will be cultivated.
In the process of chemical laboratory teaching, a lot of wastes are produced daily and most of the wastes cannot be directly discharged into environment. The methods of recycling and treatment of some chemical wastes are summarized, and the long term operation rules are put forth.
An advanced chemistry experiment involving organic synthesis and chemical analysis is proposed. This experiment is suitable for both chemistry major and non-chemistry major students. ciscyclohex-4-ene-1,2-dicarboxylic acid can be prepared by Diels-Alder reaction with 1,3-butadiene generated readily in situ by means of chelotropic extrusion of sulfur dioxide from 2,5-dihydrothiophene-1,1-dioxide. The Diels-Alder adduct formed in this instance is readily hydrolysed to the dicarboxylic acid by heating with water. The purity of product is analyzed using acid-base titration, and the structure of product is characterized by M.P., IR and 1H NMR.
